“unassumed risk”

Today I met a man who lives in a group home after many years of being institutionalized in a large government-run facility.

We were told that he was at one time the province’s most difficult to serve individual and that he was an “unassumed risk.”  That would be quite a title and means that government had signed off on him…no hope left!

But since he’s been at the group home, one which is run by the most awesome and dedicated of people, he has turned his life around and loves his home, his friends, and even the treatment he gets for some pretty hefty personality and cognitive functioning realities.  I guess one should never assume that someone else is an unassumed risk.

Grateful for:

  • all the wonderful graduates at my school today
  • texting….the best way to connect quickly with the kids in BC

Curious about:

  • N’s surgery….and broken leg, and other ailments
