Inspired by the 365 day ‘no shopping’ project

Back in September when this Plog started, I was inspired by the work of Sheena who promised to wear the same black dress every day for one full year. I had also recently seen the Julia/Julia movie which featured a blog about cooking one’s way through Julia Child’s “the Joy of Cooking.”

I decided that if some folks could stick to a blog for a full year, then I could maybe try the same. This, however, is a PLog, a personal learning log, a slight but very important difference. I’m happy to report that I have, indeed learned.

In that theme, today’s learning was triggered by a newspaper article detailing the year-long story of two fashionista and shopping-addicted women who decided to NOT SHOP for a whole year. And they made it to the end! And now they are starting a new year about how to shop consciously, and not consumptively. It’s a 365 Fashion Rehab.

I love this! It’s authentic and counter-cultural! We/I have too much stuff. And too much stuff is stressful.

Grateful for:

  • a smooth transition for grandma upon seeing her house for the first time in 18 months…after it’s been de-cluttered from 40 years of hoarding.
  • little Sebastien who can breathe on his own even though he had an early birthday

Curious about:

  • 21st century fluencies and how to move education and educators in that direction
