Trivia from Israel

Learning takes many forms, and one I love the most is the serendipitous learning that happens when others learn…and then I learn from them.

So, today my favourite Israel / Jordan travellers shared the following tidbits of revelation:

~ olive trees can be very old; in fact, some in Jerusalem are 3000+ years old!

~ little shoots come out of olive trees and are called Net Sa. The town of Nazareth’s name is a hybrid of these shoots and parallels the prophecy “out of root of Jesse will come a new shoot.”

~ good wine is feet-pressed so as to not crush the seeds and get bitterness
