Budapest Shoe Memorial

Today I attended a fascinating workshop about Holocaust studies. The presenter is the principal of the Milton District High School and shared his school’s three-year strategy for One School, One Voice, One World, an initiative in social awareness and justice. He was introduced by a Holocaust survivor.

Of the many things I learned, the Shoes on the Danube was most poignant. It’s a memorial to the Jews were marched to the river’s edge, told to remove their shoes, and were then ruthlessly shot to death.  Stunning. Awful. Horrific. Evil.

Grateful for:

  • freedom in Canada
  • the amazing presenters tonight
  • Melissa and Keith’s new baby boy
  • Team Canada victory over Germany (Wes told me to add this one!!!)  🙂

Curious about:

  • J’s Oregon trip and the boys attempt to camp in a Yurt
