Break the Grind

Today my learning is more philosophical than anything.

It all started when we greeted 250 Gr 8 students to our school for a big fun event called “Break the Grind.” It’s a wonderful way to help the incoming students have a gentle landing into the idea of coming to high school next year.

So, what did I learn?

  • some people are especially gifted at organizing…and when you let them organize, just get out of the way and let them shine!
  • when people work in teams good things happen…and I saw that in action today
  • all people need leadership most of the time…and that’s where good organizers can help people know where to go and what to do
  • there is joy in being part of a team…and I saw lots of staff today really engaged and pumped about working together. AWESOME!

In other news and updates, I continue to be inspired by The Uniform Project, a sustainable clothing endeavour which features a young woman wearing the same dress for 365 days in a row! Read her details for ‘how’ she does this! Each day she takes a photo of herself and you just wouldn’t believe how every day is different from the next.  She’s on day 277 right now! Sheena is one of the muses who inspired me to start this plog.

Grateful for:

  • finishing Sem 1 well
  • having a very productive IT walk-thru with needs and concerns identified and action items listed and ready to work on

Curious about:

  • LOST and how that intriguing TV show (the only show I watch) will spin out when it starts the final season tomorrow

hearing that some of our rascals have passed their courses even though it was a struggle to get them to the point of success
