Smart Document Camera

In my previous job as an IT Consultant  I spent most every waking hour thinking about technology and how it can be used in education. I was, for the most part, on the front edge of the curve when it came to learning/teaching cool tools, strategies, and technologies. It’s not the same now since I’m more at what I call ‘ground zero’ with teenagers. It’s more like social work than anything.

But, on occasion, the old tech-geek skills come in handy. Today I had a chance to hitch up our document camera for the first time and with very little trouble got it running and we used it in our math learning team.

It’s a neat tool that interfaces well with laptops, SmartNotebook, and the SmartBoard. And it makes collaborative learning really easy–everyone can see the same thing at the same time, and the teacher can ‘save’ all the notes, pictures, etc in Notebook. Easy-peasy notetaking!

Grateful for:

  • intentional focussed time with my best friend
  • Ashley’s chair and inspiration

Curious about:

  • how to process news about a young woman with Hodgkins!
