Customer Service and Ontarians with disabilities

I’ve spent a great deal of time today learning about the training that we must deliver to all our staff at school.

Back in 2005 The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act was passed. It’s now reached the implementation stage and the first of five phases in the Act is mandated training for us by February 15, 2010.

Þ Customer Service;
Þ Transportation;
Þ Information and Communications;
Þ Built Environment; and
Þ Employment.

And it’s Customer Service that we all need to learn about right now. I’ve spent a couple hours on this info and am up to speed and ready to go. “May I Help You?”

Grateful for:

  • living in a province where ALL people are entitled to equal service and access
  • Shannon and her willingness to volunteer at the Princess Party at Compass Point and for her awesome princess cakes that she knows how to make
  • the tiniest of incisions during knee surgeries…it’s really quite amazing!

Curious about:

  • why is it raining so much in January?
  • plants that would look great in my low-light office, now that I’ve killed off the pretty sun-loving ones
