Indonesia, IB, and a teacher

At last night’s New Year’s Eve party I met up with a young woman whom we’d known many years ago. For the last 15 years she’s been travelling the world, first as a relief/aid worker going on short-term mission trips, and then eventually as an Ontario qualifed teacher who has now been in Indonesia for the last six years. Further, she’s at an IB school and is herself a qualifed Middle Years IB teacher.

So…lots of learning last night and today as I’ve followed up with lots of internet sleuthing around.

The school has several campuses and the Lippo Village site is where Becky teaches along with at least one other Ontario teacher whom I know. Becky is a fantastic ambassador for the IB programme and sparked more and more of an interest in the training I’ll receive in a couple of months.

Grateful for:

  • the Simcoe Panorama lights which brought back many memories of the five years we spent in that little town
  • great friends and fun games

Curious about:

  • would I ever be able to do what Becky does and just travel the world, coming home only every so often
