Lemons and vinegar

Yea…West Jet has come to rescue again. K has come home! I learned nothing new, only better. I love being a mom to the greatest kids imaginable, and by default that means I’m learning something new every day.

But for the official record of this plog, I defer to the wonderful inspiration of my Pampered Chef rep, Hilary. She gave me a recipe for Lemon Torte which I prepped today in advance of a Burkina Faso picture potluck party tomorrow.

I realize you may wonder where’s the learning, but it’s a news flash to me that if you want to make a mereingue puff up nicely, you must mix six egg whites with 2 cups of sugar and 1 Tblsp of white vinegar and beat for 10 minutes.  Be sure to use the Pampered Chef stone shown here.

Yes indeed!  Vinegar!

I would never have guessed that one. But it does work and I made that lemon torte and it’s awesome.

Additionally, I must say that having a good food mixer makes a difference. In my case, I’m loving my Jennair Atruzzi machine, courtesy of the days when W was at Maytag. FYI, mine is in copper.
