Tribes

Today I learned in a visual way what tribes looks like. Groups of like people congregate and if you’re watching closely it will be obvious, sometimes unnerving, especially if you are not part of any of the groups. Or, in some cases, it can also be scary since you don’t know what to expect of another group. I see teens acting out of fear all the time, but more often than not it looks like ‘cool’, or defiance, or loud, or cocky, or even brazenly foolish.

There’s a program called ‘Tribes’ which I’ve heard a lot about…and probably need to learn about.

Grateful for:

  • east end station
  • L’Abri study group
  • Mary-Ellen and the wonderful Sunday concert
  • Geometers Sketchpad and a teacher who nailed a great lesson today
  • Smartboards and our current round of Team Learning opportunities

Curious about:

  • math visit
  • Black History Month and students from school who are planning the district festivities and events
  • how to motivate learners when they really really don’t want to learn school things!
