oscarorangeDid you know??? Oscar used to be orange, not green. In fact, his green colour is really moss. I did not know this, nor did I know that this week marks the 40th anniversary of Oscar and all his Sesame Street friends! Amazing.

What’s even more amazing is that I ‘think’ I wasn’t really permitted to watch Sesame Street too much. I have this enduring impression that my mother thought the short snippets on that show were not as healthy as the half hour sustained themes on other children’s shows, Mr. Dressup for example.

I think she might have been right! Thanks, mom.

Grateful for:

  • Nina’s restaurant which turned out to be a fabulous place for dinner with a friend. Nina was a little girl when I first met her, and now she’s 28, has gone to Niagara College and Liaison College for chef school, and she has her own Bistro which is lovely. I recommend this place, especially on Fridays when there’s live music. Nina will delight you.
  • an amazing Gr 10 Science class full of kids who were over the edge excited about their learning and couldn’t wait to tell us what they have learned. What a way to end this crazy week!
  • our students of excellence, all of whom we celebrated at today’s Awards Ceremony

Curious about:

  • is Sesame Street helpful or harmful?
  • the stories and pictures Wes will bring home tomorrow
